Miles Kurland

Design

Although my academic background is in Fine Arts, I had a career as a software developer innovating digital tools for artists before starting my consulting firm, Kurland Digital.

Some of my consulting clients regarded me as the graphic designer working alongside their technical team. To others I was their tech person working with their design team. But for most I was both designer and a full service web developer.

I ended up specializing in creating websites, graphics, and custom online applications for political campaigns, unions, and advocacy organizations.

My clients included MoveOn.org, NAACP, The California Democratic Party, Daily Kos, The California Federation of Labor, Jerry McNerney for Congress, Mark DeSaulnier for Senate, Bill Lockyer for Treasurer, and Eric Garcetti for Mayor.

After a decade and a half of running my own agency, I jumped at the opportunity to work full-time at Democracy for America, a nationwide political action committee, as Director of Web Development until they closed up shop nine years later.

I live in Northern California with my wife and best friend, our two whippets, and either one or two cats depending on the mood of one of the cats.
